Description
Studio portrait of 2327 Private (Pte) William Armstrong, 5th Reinforcements, 24th Battalion, of Kongwak, Vic. Pte Armstrong enlisted on 8 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Osterley on 29 September 1915. He was wounded in action in France and died on 8 February 1917. He is buried at Flers, France. His brother, 2328 Pte Francis Andrew Armstrong, also served in the AIF and is pictured at DA10680.
