Description
Studio portrait of 345 Private (Pte) Robert Herd Harker, A Company, 31st Battalion, of Koo-wee-rup, Vic. Pte Harker enlisted on 19 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard either HMAT Bakara on 5 November 1915 or HMAT Wandilla on 9 November 1915. He was killed in action on 20 July 1916 in France. His brother, 3640 Corporal George Ernest Harker, 24th Battalion, also served with the AIF and was awarded the Military Medal (MM) on 13 March 1919. He returned to Australia on 13 April 1919.
