Description
Studio portrait of 2132 Private (Pte) Harvey James Cook, 4th Reinforcements, 21st Battalion, of Rochford, Vic. Pte Cook enlisted on 13 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Hororata on 27 September 1915. He was later promoted to sergeant and was killed in action on 9 October 1917 at Passchendaele Ridge, Belgium, whilst serving with the 6th Company, Machine Gun Battalion. He also had four cousins who were killed in action, they were: Pte Robert Christie; Trooper Alfred C Cook; Pte William T Cook and Pte F W J Cook.
