Jeffress, Neville (Flying Officer, b.1920 - d.?)
Description
Papers of 403270 Flying Officer Neville Jeffress, 271 Squadron RAF. In 2001 Jeffress wrote a memoir about his service in the Second World War. He describes his RAAF training at Amberly Queensland, through the Empire Training Scheme. Jeffress served with the 230 Sunderland quadron in Egypt and North Africa and the 271 Squadron RAF on Transport command in Europe. He was later posted for further training in Canada from August-November 1944. The collection also includes his logbook during the period he was a flight officer in 1941. The book records his air gunning excercises in August 1941 and wireless training in Parkes. Operations from 1942-1945 include flights to Malta, Mombasa and Cairo.
