Trench Club
Australian issued trench club from World War I. There are production cyphers on the club metal head. The head has circular studs on the face. The stock is made from wood and features a serated grip and a round pommel on the base of the handle.
Trench club with Australian markings impressed into the metal body. Trench clubs of this design were used during trench clearing actions where close combat operations suplemented the use of other weapons in confined spaces. Trench clubs of similar design were used by combatants on both sides for raiding purposes and for capturing trenches, and were often constructed from whatever came to hand, as long as it was heavy and could cause trauma. Examples with heads sporting studs, cogs, nails, and defused grenades weighted with lead have been encountered.
