Regular flying-boat services between Australia and England
Description
QANTAS and Imperial Airways advertising poster. Starting in 1938 Qantas and Imperial (later British) Airways ran a thrice-weekly service from Sydney to Southampton, through Singapore, until the fall of that city during the Second World War. Flying boats were used from Sydney because the planes only needed a mooring buoy, which was available at Rose Bay. This poster is in red and blue text within a blue and red frame. The QANTAS Empire Airways logo is positioned centre top.
