Join the Royal Marines: help to man the guns of the fleet
Description
A British recruitment poster for the Royal Marines issued by the Admiralty Recruiting Department soon after the First World War. It features an image of four Royal Marines manning a naval gun position at sea. One of the marines in the lower left are facing the viewer and smiling. Another warship is visible in the centre left and a cloud of smoke rises from an unseen source in the upper right filling the yellow sky. The title is integrated and superimposed in the upper right corner of the image. In the lower right is a text box containing text printed in black listing where to enlist. This would most likely have been left blank after the initial print run so that local the details of local recruitment offices could be printed as required.
