The Luger P08 Parabellum is a recoil-operated, locked breech, semi-automatic, striker fired pistol. The pistol is manufactured from ordnance steel and has high lustre bluing finish on the metal parts. The pistol has a frame mounted manual safety at the left side. Ammunition is chambered from an 8 shot, inline, detachable box magazine. The pistol grips are manufactured from wood and are screwed to the frame. The rear of the pistol frame has provision for a shoulder butt stock. Markings - ERFURT 1917; British proof mark 41 with crown cipher; various small manufacturing ciphers and proof house marks.
The Luger is an example of a German pistol that has been re-proofed by a British proof house and then impressed into British or Australian service most likely with a special operations team.
