Description
A German landing party from the Nurnberg standing beside a crane and rail equipment on Fanning Island. The island was the site of a central Pacific telephone cable relay station. The party cut cable and destroyed wireless equipment. Temporary communication was resumed within two weeks and final repairs a few weeks afterwards.
