Description
A group of ten officers of the Australian Intermediate Base (later known as Administrative Headquarters, AIF) mounted on mules and accompanied by Egyptian guides, on an excursion to a spot near Giza that was popular among Australian troops stationed in the Cairo area. The officer on the far right is Brigadier General Victor Conradsdorf Morisset Sellheim CB, Commandant of the Administrative Headquarters from 1915-1916. He was Adjutant General of the Australian Forces in 1914 and again from 1917-1924; later he was Administrator of Norfolk Island from 1927-1928.
