Description
Portrait of Major (Maj) Duncan John Glasfurd, General Staff Officer II, 1st Division Headquarters, as seen a few days after the landing at Anzac Cove. Maj Glasfurd, seconded from the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, was Director of Military Training in Australia when the First World War broke out; he largely supervised the training of the 1st Division at Mena in Egypt. He later died of wounds in France on 12 November 1916 while holding the rank of Brigadier General and commanding the 12th Brigade.
