Description
Major Edward Sutherland Stokes, Deputy Assistant Director of Medical Services, 1st Division, cuts Major Duncan John Glasfurd's hair while smoking a pipe. A native of Scotland, Glasfurd was a staff officer concerned with operations; he had largely supervised the training of the 1st Division at Mena in Egypt. He later died of wounds in France on 12 November 1916 while holding the rank of Brigadier General and commanding the 12th Brigade.
