Description

A group of men and officers in a trench at Lone Pine, a few days after it was captured from the Turks on 6 August. The officer with the bandage around his head is Major Cecil Duncan Sasse, 1st Battalion, who was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) a few months later.
