Commemorative Two Up pennies : Corporal T Hollis, Australian Army
Description
Three copper two up coins with a white cross painted on the obverse of each. The coins are in the style of a penny, with the obverse showing a kangaroo in relief with the text, 'THE SPIRIT AUSTRALIA 2001'. The reverse shows the rising sun badge of The Australian Army, surrounded by the words '100 YEARS SERVICE TO THE NATION 1901-2001 TEAMWORK COURAGE INITIATIVE'. A dotted design is the rim of both the obverse and reverse.
History / Summary
These pennies were made in 2001 for the Centenary of the Army and used in a demonstration game of Two Up by Corporal Trevor Hollis at Camp As Sayliah, Qatar, on Anzac Day 2003. The event was filmed for television by Channel 7.
