Description
Studio portrait of 1356 Lance Corporal (LCpl) Alfred William Roberts, of Subiaco, WA. Prior to his enlistment on 15 July 1915 in the AIF, he served with the 86th Infantry, Citizens Military Forces. LCpl Roberts embarked from Melbourne with D Company, 32nd Battalion, aboard HMAT Geelong on 18 November 1915. He later served as a corporal. He was killed in action on 29 July 1916 at Fleurbaix, France. Born in Adelaide, SA, he went to school at Ballarat, Vic, and was a porter on the WA Railways.
