Description
Group portrait of prisoners of war (POWs) from Zentsuji Camp at Shikoku, Osaka, Japan. Identified from left to right: Second Lieutenant H G Webb, United States (US) Marine Corps; Captain Henry S Wilson, US Army, Signals; and VX45126 Lieutenant (Lt) Colin Norman Macleod Stirling, 2/22nd Battalion from Kooyong, Victoria. Most of the men in the camp were Allied officers captured in the early battles of 1942. The camp was a 'show camp' used by the Japanese for propaganda purposes, but after 1942 conditions worsened. Lt Stirling was captured in Rabaul, New Britain.
