Description
Group portrait of QX6468 Lieutenant (Lt) Frank Northey Sleeman, 2/1st Independent Company from Townsville, Queensland (left), and VX43797 Lt Alfred Clark, 17th Australian Anti Tank Battery from Yea, Victoria. Lt Sleeman was captured by the Japanese in the South West Pacific and Lt Clark was captured at Rabaul, New Britain. Both were prisoners of war (POWs) in Zentsuji Camp, Shikoku, Osaka, Japan. Most of the men in the camp were Allied officers captured in the early battles of 1942. The camp was a 'show camp' used by the Japanese for propaganda purposes, but after 1942 conditions worsened.
