The Navy is calling : enlist now...
Description
First World War recruitment poster issued by the U.S Navy Recruiting Bureau. It features a strong patriotic design by L. N. Britton of five sailors standing in front of a giant eagle bearing a shield on his chest. The shield is decorated with stars and stripes. The sailor third from the left is playing a bugle call while the other four stand to attention holding their rifles in their right hands. The image is in dark tones to contrast dramatically against a golden background. In the lower third the title and text are printed in gold against a black background.
