Description

Square decal transfer manufactured by Selex Duplex of Melbourne & Sydney, consisting of two sheets; one the transfer sheet, the other a thick backing sheet. The reverse of the backing sheets is printed with application instructions (highlighting that this is a transfer requiring glue, rather than being a water transfer), and identifies the transfer as 'LV6/MT13/8582-Z 1ST ARMOURED DIVISION'. The transfer faces, and is lightly adhered to, the backing paper; its reverse is yellow gold. The transfer image is in colour and features a red crocodile facing left over a purple boomerang with a green palm tree behind, all on a yellow gold background.

History / Summary

Vehicle formation sign transfer of 1 Armoured Brigade, Commonwealth Military Forces, in use between 1952 and 1960. This is the larger (8 inch square) version for application on all armour and motor transport; a smaller 5 inch square version was produced for use exclusively with jeeps. The design, in black and white, was originally used by 4 Armoured Brigade during the Second World War.
