Buy Peace Bonds
Description
Australian poster promoting the sale of Peace bonds following the end of the First World War. This Peace Loan was issued in August 1919 and citizens were encouraged to subscribe to help assist returned soldiers back to civilian life. The image is of a civilian woman in a red dress and a returned soldier, who appears to have a walking aid. Positioned on the right in the foreground, they have their backs to the viewer and are surveying a war ravaged landscape silhouetted on the left side of the poster. They stand beneath a tree, indicating that peace has come. The text is printed over the blue sky between the two images both are set within a black and yellow border.
