Description
Studio portrait of 528 Private (Pte) Arthur Heard, B Company, 31st Battalion, of St Kilda, Vic (seated). Prior to enlisting in the AIF on 15 July 1915 he served with the Citizens Military Forces. Pte Heard embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Warilda on 9 November 1915. He was later promoted to Company Quartermaster Sergeant (CQMS). CQMS Heard was killed in action on 26 September 1917 at Polygon Wood, Belgium.
