History / Summary
James Arthur Allport was born at Jerrawa, NSW, in 1915, and worked on the family property 'Wandarrah' prior to his enlistment in the AIF in March 1943. He became Private NX149932 with 18 Field Ambulance, which saw service in New Guinea during 1944 and 1945 in the Finschhafen, Lae, Madang and Nadzab areas. He returned to Australia at the end of the war and was discharged in February 1946. James Allport died in March 1992.
