Description
Four unidentified soldiers walking along a duckboard track across the otherwise impassable mud at Garter Point, near Zonnebeke, in the Ypres sector. The wire entanglements fronted the recent German line, prior to its capture by the Australian troops. This is version one of a composite image, the print made by combining two or more negatives to make an altered image. The unaltered original image, which does not show the shell fire in the distance, is held at E01235, a similar image is held at P04060.004.
