Studio portrait of 1746 Private (Pte) David Gow who enlisted in the town of Obley, NSW, on 31 December 1915. He was assigned to the 45th Battalion and subsequently served on the Western Front in France. In October 1917, Gow's battalion was a unit of the 12th Brigade and was engaged in action at the Second Battalion of Passchendaele during which Gow was killed on 13 October 1917. Gow was 20 years of age at the time of his death and is buried at Passchendaele, New British Cemetery in Belgium.
