Seatree, Eric (Captain, Chaplain, b.1906 - d.1988)
Description
Four letters written by NX76446 Captain Eric J Seatree between 1941-1943 while serving as Chaplain of 2/3 Pioneer Battalion. The letters are dated 15 December 1941, 20 November 1942, 20 December 1942, 20 April 1943 and numbered 6, 55, 59 and 62 respectively. Seatree is based near Tel-Aviv and writes of learning Hebrew and visiting the city. He mentions, in 1941, the war drawing closer to Australia and notes that there will be no more troops being sent to the Middle East. Exhuming and burying bodies is a job Seatree mentions he has to undertake. The majority of the letters relate to his social engagements and the meals he has. Seatree was awarded a Military Cross in 1943 but the letters do not mention this.
