Description
Studio portrait of 2719 Private (Pte) Stephen Charles Newstead, 6th Reinforcements, 24th Battalion, of Kerang, Vic. Pte Newstead enlisted on 19 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ulysses on 27 October 1915. He later served as a corporal. He was killed in action on 26 December 1917 at Wytschaete, Belgium.
