Major Ohri was sent to negotiate an armistice to allow the Turks to bury their dead after their attack on Anzac positions on 18-19 May, 1915. More than 3000 Turks and approximately 169 Australians died during the attack. A nine hour armistice was arranged for 24 May 1915. The officer wearing the turban is Lieutenant Colonel L C Parker CO, 7th Indian Mountain Artillery Brigade, and the officer standing alongside him is one of his battery commanders.
