Informal portrait of 2nd Lieutenant (2nd Lt) Thomas Kennedy Westbrook, 2nd Battalion, of Randwick, NSW, standing on a bridge. 2nd Lt Westbrook enlisted on 27 August 1914, aged 19, and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Suffolk on 18 October 1914. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in March 1916. Captain Westbrook was killed in action in France on 7 May 1917.
