Description

Studio portrait of 4542 Private (Pte) John (Johny) Waters, 11th Reinforcements, 27th Battalion, of Adelaide, SA (originally of Cornwall, England). After migrating to Australia with his family, Pte Waters had lived in Adelaide, SA, working as a motor driver for four years prior to enlistment on 20 December 1917. He sailed on HMAT Shropshire from Adelaide on 25 March 1916. Pte Waters died of his wounds on 7 March 1917 in France aged 25 years.
