Studio portrait of NX44812 Signalman (Sig) Raymond William Carr, 8th Division Signals. Sig Carr enlisted on 15 September 1941 at the age of seventeen, having given a false date of birth. He became a prisoner of war (POW) and worked on the Burma-Thailand railway. He died of illness on 1 September 1943, aged nineteen.
