Description
Collection relating to the service of 1427 Constable Horace F Doyle, Royal Australian Navy, during the Second World War. Items 1-4 comprise four handwritten accounts by Doyle narrating experiences on HMAS Napier, including the ship's involvement with the Japanese midget submarines in Sydney Harbour, May 1942. One account includes three related contemporary photos. Item 5 contains copies of letters exchanged between Lieutenant-Commander R E Breydon to Sub Lieutenant H C Eyers of Yarroma, commending captain and crew for their part in the sinking of submarine Midget No. 21 as well as a hand-written Right of Reply.
