Studio portrait of 450 Sergeant (Sgt) Arthur Lee, 3rd Battery, 1st Field Artillery Brigade, born at Tamworth, NSW. Prior to enlistment he worked as a foreman at a timber yard in Young, NSW. Sgt Lee enlisted 24 August 1914 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Argyllshire on 18 October 1914. He died on 16 November 1916 of wounds received at Flers, France, aged 32 years. He is buried in France 400 Bernafay Wood British Cemetery Montauban. This lantern slide is one of a series of images of soldiers from the district who enlisted and served overseas. The slides were probably displayed at the Tamworth Cinema between features. Some of the slides have been annotated with information about the person pictured.
