Description
Studio portrait of 3725 Private (Pte) Richard Dwyer, 12th Reinforcements, 1st Battalion, of Tamworth, NSW. Pte Dwyer enlisted on 5 August 1915 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Mooltan on 11 December 1915. He died 23 July 1916 of wounds he received at Pozieres, France, aged 23 years. He is buried at France 74 Puchevillers British Cemetery. This lantern slide is one of a series of images of soldiers from the district who enlisted and served overseas. The slides were probably displayed at the Tamworth Cinema between features. Some of the slides have been annotated with information about the person pictured.
