Description
Studio portrait of Daniel Lock, of Tamworth, NSW, dressed in civilian clothing. He enlisted in the AIF on 24 September 1914 and was given the service number of 192, embarking as a member of B Company, 13th Battalion. He embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ulysses on 22 December 1914 and was killed in action on 27 August 1915 at Gallipoli Peninsula, aged 31 years. He has no known grave and is memorialised at Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula. This lantern slide is one of a series of images of soldiers from the district who enlisted and served overseas. The slides were probably displayed at the Tamworth Cinema between features. Some of the slides have been annotated with information about the person pictured.
