Studio portrait of 2773 Private (Pte) William Walter Kensell, 6th Reinforcements, 19th Battalion, of Tamworth, NSW. Pte Kensell enlisted on 21 August 1915 and embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Euripides on 2 November 1915. He died on 9 November 1916, aged 20 years, and is buried at 385 Warlencourt British Cemetery, France. This lantern slide is one of a series of images of soldiers from the district who enlisted and served overseas. The slides were probably displayed at the Tamworth Cinema between features. Some of the slides have been annotated with information about the person pictured.
