Description
Studio portrait of 2492 Private (Pte) John Lawrence Lenihan (John Lawrence), 5th Reinforcements, 25th Battalion, of Salisbury, SA, aged 33 years. Pte Lenihan enlisted on 16 August 1915 and embarked from Brisbane on 5 October 1915 aboard HMAS Warilda. He was transferred to the 9th Battalion on 4 March 1916 and then to the 3rd Machine Gun Company on 15 November 1916. He was wounded in action in France and was killed in action on 4 October 1917 in Ypres, Belgium.
