Description

An Australian flag hangs in the Headquarters of the 4th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (Commando) Platoon (4RAR). During operation Falconer 4RAR provided quick reaction support to the Special Air Services Regiment (SAS). 4RAR was deployed to the Middle East as part of a quick reaction force to support Special Air Service Regiment (SAS) operations. This would include providing fire support and search and rescue if required. In addition to this key role, the commandos provided security protection to Australian diplomats in Baghdad. 4RAR and the SAS and operated in the Middle East as part of the Australian commitment to the Coalition forces assembled to disarm Iraq.
