Description

A convoy of Australian Light Armoured Vehicles (ASLAVs), from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, pass by several market stalls set up by the side of a Baghdad street. Local residents have pulled their vehicles off the road to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables. During Operation Falconer the 2nd Cavalry Regiment formed part of the Australian Security Detachment (SECDET) responsible for providing protection to Australian Diplomats in Iraq. The 2nd Cavalry Regiment operated in the Middle East as part of the Australian Defence Force's commitment to the coalition forces assembled to enforce Iraq's compliance with its international obligations to disarm.
