Description

Holding onto two ropes, a crew member of a boarding party from HMAS Kanimbla climbs down the ladder towards the Rigid-Hulled Inflatable Boat (RHIB) below, where other members of the boarding party are waiting. The RHIBs were used by the boarding parties to conduct patrols in the Khawr Abd Allah (KAA) waterway. During Operation Falconer, HMAS Kanimbla supplied command and control support to the coalition boarding parties clearing the KAA waterway. HMAS Kanimbla also provided valuable support to the Australian Clearance Diving Team 3 (AUSCDT3) through the provision of logistics support and work platform facilities. HMAS Kanimbla operated in the Middle East as part of the Australian Defence Force's commitment to the coalition forces assembled to enforce Iraq's compliance with its international obligations to disarm.
