Description

Members of the Australian Clearance Diving Team 3 (AUSCDT3) relax in their barrack accommodation in the port city of Um Qasr. A large hangar was converted into accommodation shared by the AUSCDT3 and British troops operating in the in the area. During Operation Falconer, AUSCDT3 conducted mine clearance operations, that consisted of shallow water Mine Counter Measures (MCM) and Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) in the Khawr Abd Allah waterway, Um Qasr, Al Faw peninsula and later the Khawr az Zubayr waterway. AUSCDT3 operated in the Middle East as part of the Australian Defence Force's commitment to the coalition forces assembled to enforce Iraq's compliance with its international obligations to disarm.
