Pilot, Lieutenant (Lt) Andrew Sleeman (left), sits in a Sikorsky S-70B-2 Seahawk helicopter on the flight deck of HMAS Anzac, and prepares for take off. An unidentified crew member stands beside the helicopter and looks through the window at Lt Sleeman. During Operation Falconer, HMAS Anzac's tasks were to monitor, query and board merchant vessels suspected of violating United Nations resolutions and to escort military and civilian vessels through the Khawr Abd Allah (KAA) waterway. HMAS Anzac was also called upon to provide fire power support to ground troops in the area, while operating in the Middle East as part of the Australian Defence Force's commitment to the coalition forces assembled to enforce Iraq's compliance with its international obligations to disarm.
