Description
A game of rugby takes place at Baghdad International Airport between members of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment. The 2nd Cavalry Regiment have recently arrived in Iraq with their Australian Light Armoured Vehicles (ASLAV), visible in the background. The ASLAVs will be deployed in Baghdad to form part of the Australian Security Detachment (SECDET). SECDET is responsible for providing protection to Australian Diplomats and Australian Defence Force personnel during the reconstruction period in Iraq. The 2nd Cavalry Regiment operated in the Middle East as part of the Australian Defence Force's commitment to the coalition forces assembled to enforce Iraq's compliance with its international obligations to disarm.
