Description

An Iraqi woman walks between two Australian Light Armoured Vehicles (ASLAVs) from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment. The ASLAVs are patrolling an area close to where the former Australian Embassy residence is located. During Operation Falconer the 2nd Cavalry Regiment formed part of the Australian Security Detachment (SECDET) responsible for providing protection to Australian Diplomats in Iraq. The 2nd Cavalry Regiment operated in the Middle East as part of the Australian Defence Force's commitment to the coalition forces assembled to enforce Iraq's compliance with its international obligations to disarm.
