Petty Officer Tim Noble, wearing glasses, checks the end of the winch of an S-70B-2 Seahawk helicopter as he prepares to embark for a flight over the Khawr Abd Allah (KAA) waterway. The Seahawk helicopter is embarked on HMAS Anzac to enhance the ships anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare capabilities. During Operation Falconer, HMAS Anzac was tasked to monitor, query and board merchant vessels suspected of violating United Nations resolutions and to escort military and civilian vessels through the KAA waterway. HMAS Anzac also provided fire power support to ground troops in the area. HMAS Anzac operated in the Middle East as part of the Australian Defence Force's commitment to the coalition forces assembled to enforce Iraq's compliance with its international obligations to disarm.
