Boarding parties carried out Rigid-Hulled Inflatable Boat (RHIB) patrols that to inspect all shipping vessels that passed through the Khawr Abd Allah (KAA) waterway. On one such RHIB patrol HMAS Kanimbla siezed three tugs and a barge preparing to lay sea mines in an attack against the coalition. During Operation Falconer, HMAS Kanimbla supplied command and control support to the coalition boarding parties clearing the KAA waterway, and logistics support and work platform facilities to Australian Clearance Diving Team 3 (AUSCDT3). HMAS Kanimbla operated in the Middle East as part of the Australian commitment to the Coalition forces assembled to disarm Iraq.
