Description

Lieutenant (Lt) Justin Back, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, inside an Australian Light Armoured Vehicle (ASLAV). The ASLAV is patrolling the streets of Baghdad and is heading towards the former Australian Embassy residence. During Operation Falconer the 2nd Cavalry Regiment formed part of the Australian Security Detachment (SECDET) responsible for providing protection to Australian Diplomats in Iraq. The 2nd Cavalry Regiment operated in the Middle East as part of the Australian Defence Force's commitment to the coalition forces assembled to enforce Iraq's compliance with its international obligations to disarm.
