Description

Members of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment study their maps during a briefing session at the Australian National Headquarters Baghdad (ASNHQ). The 2nd Cavalry Regiment will be patrolling the streets of Baghdad in their Australian Light Armoured Vehicles (ASLAV) as part of the Australian Security Detachment (SECDET). SECDET responsible for providing protection to Australian Diplomats in Iraq. The 2nd Cavalry Regiment operated in the Middle East as part of the Australian Defence Force's commitment to the coalition forces assembled to enforce Iraq's compliance with its international obligations to disarm.
