Description

Australian Light Armoured Vehicle (ASLAV) crew members from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, study their notes as Lieutenant (Lt) Justin Back outlines the days duties at a briefing session. The briefing is taking place in the grounds of the Presidential Palace North, which is the site of the Australian National Headquarters Baghdad (ASNHQ). 2nd Cavalry Regiment were deployed to the Middle East to form part of the Australian Security Detachment (SECDET). SECDET responsible for providing protection to Australian Diplomats in Iraq. The 2nd Cavalry Regiment operated in the Middle East as part of the Australian Defence Force's commitment to the coalition forces assembled to enforce Iraq's compliance with its international obligations to disarm.
