Description

Lance Corporal Jason Nuske from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, sits in the turret of an Australian Light Armoured Vehicle (ASLAV) while on patrol through the streets of Baghdad. The ASLAVs are equipped with a 50 calibre machinegun. During Operation Falconer the 2nd Cavalry Regiment formed part of the Australian Security Detachment (SECDET) responsible for providing protection to Australian Diplomats in Iraq. The 2nd Cavalry Regiment operated in the Middle East as part of the Australian Defence Force's commitment to the coalition forces assembled to enforce Iraq's compliance with its international obligations to disarm.
