Description
Amidst the dirt, Private (Pte) Adam Roy, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR), sits on a box shaving. His implements, consisting of a shaving mug, cream and a bottle of water, are set out in front of him. The Baghdad headquarters of 2RAR were located in an unfinished thirteen floor hotel next to the former Australian Embassy residence. During Operation Falconer, 2RAR formed part of the Australian Security Detachment (SECDET) responsible for providing protection to Australian diplomats in Iraq. 2RAR operated in the Middle East as part of the Australian commitment to the coalition forces assembled to disarm Iraq.
